Toyota Lift Northwest's Story
What you may not know about Toyota Lift Northwest is that we have been around for 50 years, and it all started because two business owners were determined to have Toyota forklifts in their warehouse. In 1967, the Pacific Northwest was without a Toyota forklift dealership, so Holman Distribution Center owners, Herbert & Leonard Clark, began their own dealership in Portland, Oregon: CB Toyota Lift.
It is now over 50 years later and a lot has changed:
- In 1978 our business grew to two locations in Washington and Oregon.
- In 2002 our forklift became the #1 rated forklift in the world and has continued to stay #1.
- In 2008, our ownership changed from the Clark family to Toyota Tsusho Corporation and we were renamed Toyota Lift Northwest.
- In 2021, we expanded to two new locations: Medford, Oregon and Lakewood, Washington.
- In 2022, we opened two more locations: Creswell, Oregon and Redmond, Oregon. We also welcomed Genie Aerial Equipment and Landoll Material Handling products to our line-up.
- In 2024, Toyota Lift Northwest’s ownership changed from Toyota Tsusho Corporation to Toyota Industries North America. We also joined into a strategic partnership with Raymond West

Raymond West's Story
Today’s Raymond West originated over 75 years ago as the W.T. Billard Company, a one-person materials handling company that began in Bill Billard’s house in 1942. Over 60 years W.T. Billard grew into a 27,600 SF headquarters with 88 employees, expanding into San Diego, Las Vegas, and Ontario, CA before Raymond purchased the company in 2002 and became Raymond Handling Solutions Incorporated (RHSI) with revenue of $48 million.
Since then, Raymond’s business has exploded, with highlights including:
- In 2010 the acquisition of Handling Systems Incorporated (HSI), now known as RW East, with 90 employees and revenue of $20 million.
- In 2018 The acquisition of Raymond Handling Concepts Corporation (RHCC), now known as RW North, with 323 employees and revenue of $130 million.
- In 2021, RHSI, HIS, and RHCC is officially rebranded as Raymond West.
- In 2023, Raymond West revenue is $625 million, with over 1,300 employees
- In 2024, Raymond West boasts 21 West Coast locations, $831 million in revenue, and nearly 1,400 employees, several of whom have been with the company for 20+ years. Raymond West unites with Toyota Lift Northwest, with a combined workforce of more than 1,600 employees and an extensive network of 27 service locations across the West.
- In 2025, Raymond West headquarters moves to a 215K square foot state-of-the-art facility in Cypress, Ca.
