Featured Product – Motrec MT 290 Tow Tractor

When you think of tow tractors, you probably envision them running across the tarmac of your airport pulling trailers full of luggage that may or may not make it to its final location. However, you can find tow tractors in multiple industrial settings, hauling parts and product to assembly lines, transporting multiple pallets of product, and even agricultural settings. Motrec is a leading manufacturer of tow tractors and we’d like to introduce you to one of their more popular models, the Motrec MT 290.

SPECIFICATIONS

The Motrec MT 290 is an upgraded version of the MT 250, a mid-range tow tractor (towing capacities from 16,000 to 20,000lbs). While it can only carry approximately 700 lbs. itself, it can haul up to 16,000 lbs. That’s 8 tons of towing power in a chassis 38” wide and 78” long!

The whole thing is powered by high-efficiency asynchronous brushless AC direct drive motor with either a 36V, 48V, or 48V Lithium battery and it’s all controlled by an AC Electronic speed controller.

OFF-ROAD CAPABILITY

For rougher terrain applications, the MT 290 retains the rear dual leaf spring suspension but swaps out the stock 16” tires for 21” ones, increasing the ground clearance. It also gets a more rugged body that extends the wheelbase from 52” to 59” for greater stability and includes recessed headlights.

EQUIPMENT

MT 290s are customizable to your business needs with plenty of modifications and accessories to keep your drivers comfortable and capable. Some popular options include a fully enclosed cabin with rear glass and windshield wipers, pole mounted strobe lights, and flat prevention tire treatments.
